Shop With A Designer

Make confident design purchases before you commit

In-person guidance for confident furniture, finish and décor selections.

Shop With a Designer gives you professional guidance at the point of purchase.

Instead of choosing items in isolation, we consider how every selection will work with your existing furniture, finishes, room dimensions and overall design direction.

The value is not simply having someone accompany you while you shop.

It is having a designer help you make informed, coordinated decisions before you commit.

This service can help you select

  • Furniture
  • Rugs
  • Lighting
  • Artwork
  • Curtains and window treatments
  • Fabrics
  • Paint colours
  • Wallpaper
  • Tiles and surface finishes
  • Decorative accessories

The visit is focused on a defined number of pre-agreed selections rather than general browsing.

Shop With a Designer is for people who are ready to make a purchase but want professional guidance before committing.

You have a clear shopping brief, an agreed budget and a small number of specific decisions to make.

How It Works

1. Purchase Shop With A Designer

After purchasing Shop With a Designer, you will receive an email confirming your order and explaining the next steps.

The shopping visit is confirmed once your information, preferred location and proposed date have been reviewed.

2. Complete The Shopping Questionnaire

Interior design plans, material samples, a mood board and a tablet displaying a neutral living room concept arranged on a designer’s worktable.

Before the shopping visit, you will be asked to provide:

- Clear photographs of the room.

- Relevant room and furniture measurements.

- Your available budget.

- A list of the items you need.

- Links or screenshots of pieces you are considering.

- Details of existing furniture, colours and finishes that must remain.

This information should be submitted at least three working days before the appointment.

This allows us to understand the room before we begin shopping.

2. We Agree On The Shopping Brief

Minimalist Afro-modern still life featuring a handcrafted ceramic vessel on a stone plinth against a textured warm stone plaster wall, with soft natural light casting a diagonal shadow.

Together, we agree on a focused brief for the visit.

For example:

Select one rug, two occasional chairs and a light fitting for the living room within a total budget of R25,000.

The brief establishes the priorities, budget and number of decisions to be made during the visit.

3. Meet For The Guided Shopping Visit

Minimalist still life of handcrafted ceramic vessels in earthy tones on a textured stone surface, with warm natural light highlighting material texture and sculptural form.

During the visit, we assess suitable options and help you compare them in relation to your room.

We consider:

Size, scale and proportion

Colour, undertone and contrast

Material, texture and finish

Comfort and practical function

Quality and durability

How the item coordinates with what you already own

Whether the piece supports the room as a whole

Whether it represents a worthwhile investment

4. Make Clearer Purchasing Decisions

Add heritage-led colour to your home with NIZARRA’s green Sepedi-inspired cushion, featuring bold geometric motifs in olive, cream and deep charcoal.

After the visit, you will receive a short written recap confirming:

- Recommended selections,

- Items that require further consideration,

- Options that were ruled out,

- Relevant product details or links available at the time of the visit,

- Any agreed next steps.

Products are purchased directly from the retailer by the client unless a separate procurement service has been arranged.

By the end of the visit, you will have professional guidance on the agreed selections and greater confidence about what to purchase, what to reconsider and what to leave behind.
