Pampamsie Plate - DWEN Form 02

The Pampamsie Plate  is conceived as a cultural object,  where symbolism, material, and structure come together in a singular expression of presence.

Handcrafted by ceramist Ampofo for NIZARRA, the piece draws from the Adinkra symbol Pampamsie, representing strength, endurance, and readiness. This symbolism is embedded at the centre of the form, not as decoration, but as anchor and identity.

The circular body is finished in a deep matte black - calm, weighted, and architectural. At its centre, a warm clay medallion holds the symbol in contrast, creating a visual tension between depth and clarity.

Flanking the form, sculpted handles are detailed with hand-strung beadwork in red and carved wood tones, introducing a tactile rhythm and subtle movement. These elements extend the piece beyond ceramic — into object, craft, and narrative.
